DR. KIKIOPE OLUWARORE

Veterinarian • Global One Health Expert • Researcher • Social Entrepreneur

Dr. Kikiope Oluwarore is a veterinarian, global One Health expert, researcher, and social entrepreneur whose work spans animal health, public health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), sustainable food systems, climate resilience, and digital health innovation. With over 15 years of professional experience across research, policy, implementation, and systems strengthening, she has built a career focused on advancing integrated solutions to some of the world’s most interconnected health and development challenges.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI), a global nonprofit organization advancing One Health approaches across health security, AMR, animal welfare, conservation, climate action, and sustainable agriculture. She also founded One Health Ventures (OHV), a social enterprise focused on developing innovative, advisory and technology-driven solutions for health and agriculture systems. Through these platforms, she has led multidisciplinary projects, research initiatives, policy engagements, and digital innovations across Africa and internationally.

 

Dr. Oluwarore obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and later earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Global Health and Infectious Diseases from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She is an alumna of the Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative (ELBI) Fellowship of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, the Commonwealth Scholarship, and the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) of the United States Consulate.

She is also the creator of innovative digital platforms such as RORE (Responsive One Health Resource Ecosystem), a multilingual AI-powered platform designed to improve access to trusted health and agricultural information and services, and One Health Resources (OHR), a global resource community platform on LinkedIn for One Health professionals and institutions.

 

Over the course of her career, she has consulted and collaborated with several international organizations and institutions, including the World Health Organization (WHO), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), African Union – InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), Chronos Sustainability, Animal Advocacy Careers, and Animal Advocacy Africa. Her work has contributed to strengthening national and regional systems for zoonotic disease preparedness and response, One Health coordination, AMR mitigation, animal welfare, and sustainable food systems.

 

Her expertise lies particularly in operationalizing One Health approaches across infectious disease prevention and control, emergency preparedness, surveillance systems, AMR stewardship, climate-smart agriculture, and responsible food systems. She has supported the development and implementation of national strategies, policy frameworks, technical tools, training programs, and multisectoral coordination systems across human, animal, and environmental health sectors.

Dr. Oluwarore is also deeply passionate about the future of veterinary medicine and the evolving role of veterinarians in society. Through mentorship, education, speaking engagements, and professional development initiatives, she has supported veterinary students and professionals across different countries and career stages. Her work consistently emphasizes that while veterinary medicine remains firmly rooted in traditional clinical practice, the profession now plays an increasingly critical role in public health, research, sustainable agriculture, food systems, animal welfare, policy and governance, innovation, communication, technology, and global socioeconomic development.

 

She strongly advocates for the growth, visibility, mentorship, and career development of current and future veterinarians, believing that the profession must continue evolving to meet the complex and interconnected challenges facing the world today. Through community building, leadership development, and practical career guidance, she is committed to helping veterinarians build meaningful, impactful, and future-ready careers across diverse sectors and disciplines.

 

Drawing from her experiences across veterinary practice, research, public health, policy, international development, entrepreneurship, and technology innovation, Dr. Oluwarore has founded the Veterinary Career Guide (VCG) platform to help veterinarians navigate the complexity and diversity of modern veterinary careers with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose. Through this book and the broader VCG ecosystem, she aims to provide practical guidance, tools, and resources that empower current and aspiring veterinarians to build meaningful, impactful, and fulfilling careers across the many pathways within the profession.
